In partnership with the Cape Ann Pride Coalition and Younity, and thanks to a grant from Awesome Gloucester and other donations, Gloucester’s Schooner Adventure is happy to offer a FREE, private “teen sail” event to close out Pride Month for LGBTQIA+ youth and their Allies, ages 13-18. (Adventure’s crew and other adults will be chaperoning; permission slips required for ages 13-17; food and drink will be provided.)
Built in 1926, Adventure is an authentic, 122 foot, Essex-built, wooden fishing schooner sailing out of Gloucester. Deemed a “highliner,” she was the biggest moneymaker of her era during her 27-year fishing career. When she retired in 1953, she was the last American vessel to fish the Grand Banks of Newfoundland using hook and line from dories. Designated as a National Historic Landmark, she is fully restored, USCG licensed, and ready to celebrate Pride!
(Please note: at attempt to find a rain date for the sail will be made if the captain determines it necessary on the 28th.)
Enjoy stunning views of St. Peter’s Fiesta events, including the Greasy Pole Contest, from the harbor itself, while enjoying acoustic tunes from two members of “Kicked Off the Bus.”
Watch that Pride flag fly from the ship and come aboard!
